The Connection
“Knowing the importance can be Life Changing”
Have you ever thought about how many fruit trees exist in the United States? I took a stab at it and asked Google for the answer, the response was “an exact count of individual fruit trees in the United States does not exist because agricultural census tracking measures production by acreage rather than counting every single tree”. The state of California accounts for about half of U.S. bearing fruit acreage, Florida almost one-fourth, and Washington around one-tenth. Michigan, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Texas are also important fruit-producing states and together account for one-tenth of the nation’s fruit acreage.
I started meditating on how God in his infinite wisdom did not cross pollinate fruit trees. Apple trees can’t produce pears; orange trees can’t produce lemons. God designed each tree to produce after its own kind.
Genesis 1 11:12 11”Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.”
God designed from the beginning that fruit would be produced after its own kind, he wanted the production process to be uniquely identifiable for each tree, no misclassifications, no mistakes. The seed-bearing fruit had a direct connection to the tree it came from. God was onto something profound and would leave a lasting imprint on the world infinitely. The connection of the vine, its branches, and the fruit it produces is distinctly identified and showcases the characteristics of the source it came from.
John 15:5 New International Version
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Jesus wanted the connection between him and the believer to be so special. He wanted believers to understand that apart from him, you could do nothing. But when connected to him and with his seed in you, you can produce much fruit and live a purposeful life. The fruit God wants to produce in you has a direct connection to its source and it is uniquely identifiable and showcases the source from which it came.
You start producing the fruit that reflects God by shedding off the old man and putting on the new man in Christ, which showcases the very nature and characteristics of God.
To produce the fruit that pleases God the pruning process must occur.

18 ”A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.”
Once you surrender your will for God’s will you will then be so connected to Christ that the result of your righteous living is the production of good fruit.
John 15:16 Amplified Bible (AMP)
16 ”You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give to you.”
Man continues to try and duplicate what God put in place from the beginning, they try to genetically cross pollinate all kinds of things to try and improve on what God has done in their attempt to be like God. Our Savior Jesus Christ is clear, stay connected to him, surrender your will for his, walk in his purpose and reflect his identity and you can ask whatever you will in His name and his heavenly father will give it to you.
The connection is solidified when we totally surrender to Jesus and forsake our will for his will, which is what is best for us in the first place. Surrendering positions us to submit to the power of the holy spirit to rest upon us, rule and govern us, and abide with us forever. All we have to do is trust the process and walk into our destiny of a fruitful life with our Lord and Saviour. Every circumstance of our lives has been planned with this end in view.
How is this process of forming Christ within the believers life advanced? God is reflected in us through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, by taking us through stages: (Pruning)

- To increase fruitfulness: The goal of pruning is to help believers “bear more fruit” (love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) for God’s glory and purpose to bless others.
- To shape us into Christ’s image: Pruning helps to develop our character and make us more like Jesus.
- To help us rely on God: The process encourages us to trust God, surrender to His ways, and find our identity in Him rather than in the things that are being cut away.
How Pruning Happens:
- Through God’s word: The Holy Spirit uses scriptures to reveal our own thoughts and intentions that don’t align to his will, highlighting what needs to be changed and cut at the root.
- Through conviction: The Holy Spirit brings conviction to show us what is wrong in us, such as pride, partnering with wrong influences, or harmful habits, and guides us to be obedient.
- Through circumstances: The Holy Spirit uses good and bad situations – like a job transition, marriage, sickness, or even the loss of a loved one to shape our character and help us grow in our dependence on God.
- Through steps of faith: The Holy Spirit can challenge us to step out of our comfort zones, which helps us grow in faith and trust.
